Arika Crotty is a producer and writer with a decade of experience across documentary, scripted drama, and digital and audio mediums. Her credits include work for major Australian networks; Network Ten, ABC, SBS and the Seven Network, and have been distributed intentionally on Prime Video, Discovery UK, National Geographic and Sky Nature. In 2024 she received the Brisbane City Council Lord Mayor Creative Fellowship to write a feature screenplay and is currently in development on a drama series with Limina Pictures for which she is attached as creator and writer, and two feature films. She recently travelled to the States to produce “A Significant Development”, a short experimental documentary about AI currently in post-production, this represents her first international co-production. “Space/Time”, an independent feature film she produced in Queensland was released in theatres May 2025.
She loves smart stories with romantic visuals, moral nuance, intellect on display, humour, a preoccupation for industrial and bureaucratic processes, beauty for beauty's sake, films that are very a play, fun and Big stories. Accidentally, or not, her work is always somewhere in conversation with the natural world. Inspired by both Gerald Murnane’s intellectual-Australia in his novel “The Plains” and her rural upbringing, Arika’s drama writing addresses the tension between sophisticated borderless narrative and regional storytelling.
SHE LOVES; Claire Denis' films, a sense of occasion, Ben Lerner's novels, Deadwood, Heat (1995).
